Induction (electrodeless fluorescent) is an old technology that has been around for over 30 years. It was designed to provide long life (100,000 hours) as well as energy efficiency. The renewed interest in Induction lighting can be attributed to the rise of LED. Since Induction lighting has nearly double the rated life of most LEDs and is usually more cost effective, it becomes much more attractive. Induction lighting is dimmable and in many cases allows for retrofitting the existing fixture reducing installation cost.
